Associate Scientist/Scientist:  In vivo cancer pharmacology lead

About Us:

Raqia Therapeutics is an exciting startup company developing a transformative chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) technology for immunotherapy. Raqia launched in the Pagliuca Harvard LifeLab incubator after a competitive selection process and with a seed round of investment from top-tier investors with additional commitments expected in the next two quarters. Raqia has licensed exclusive rights to a next-generation CAR T cell platform developed in the laboratory of Dr. Carl Novina at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Nikhil Munshi, Ken Anderson on the SAB and Dr. Fred Mermelstein, successful scientist and biotech entrepreneur, as CEO.

About the Job:

Raqia is seeking an Associate Scientist/Scientist level researcher to establish our cancer pharmacology group working alongside our scientific team and reporting directly to the Head of Drug Discovery.  A successful candidate will have a strong background in direct hands-on running of mouse models of human cancer.  Experience with tissue culture of human tumor cell lines, tumor inoculation, IV and IP dosing, tumor measurement and endpoints of immune function are required.  Candidates will have the opportunity to play a central role in the pre-clinical and clinical development of our first product candidate and work amongst a highly-collaborative and entrepreneurial team of scientists and clinicians. The candidate will independently design and perform experiments in-house, and manage in vivo experiments with CROs. Successful candidates should be dedicated and willing to contribute to all aspects of the company's development. Requirements

Requirements:

  • BS/MS in Biology or a related field with a strong record of experience with in vivo mouse models of human cancer
  • 5+ years of experience studying impact of therapeutics in pre-clinical human cancer models
  • Well established hands-on experience with mouse dosing and handling techniques
  • Experienced in tissue dissection and tissue preparation for flow cytometry, RNA, and protein analysis
  • Excellent technical skills handling tissue culture of human tumor cell lines
  • Strong analytical and data analysis skills
  • Team player with excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to thrive on tight deadlines and adapt to new challenges
  • Ambitious and driven to build a startup from the ground up
