Fellow

Description

About the Fellowship:

This is a unique opportunity at Cincinnati Children's Division of Translational and Clinical Pharmacology. Our mission is to address the critical shortage of pediatric clinical pharmacologists through this training program.

The fellowship is funded by a T32 training grant (T32 HD 069054) from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Development (NICHD). Cincinnati Children’s offers an outstanding research infrastructure, including collaborations with other clinical pharmacology programs nationwide. Through mentored research, rigorous didactics, and career
development activities, our fellowship program prepares trainees to publish manuscripts in high-impact journals, submit successful grant award applications, mentor trainees, and become local and national leaders in clinical pharmacology.

Fellows will be provided a stipend and funding for research-related activities along with 75% (clinical fellows) - 100% (non-clinical fellows) protected re-search time.

Eligible applicants will hold an MD/DO, MD/PhD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree. Applicants who are clinical fellows should be enrolled in or have completed fellowship training in a pediatric subspecialty area. Non-clinical fellow applicants should have completed their doctoral degree in pharmacology or pharmaceutical sciences, or demonstrate clear interest/prior research in pharmacology if their doctoral degree is in another biomedical or engineering or data science field. Non-clinical fellows have the opportunity to work alongside clinical providers to optimize drug dosing in pediatric patients.

Pharmacology Training In Cincinnati:

Cincinnati Children’s is ranked as the best pediatric hospital in the nation! This ranking is not only because of our exceptional patient care, but also because of the groundbreaking research that happens here every day.

Trainees in the fellowship can expect mentoring from all faculty members. They share their expertise in pharmacometrics, pharmacogenetics, artificial intelligence/machine learning, and the application of these approaches to personalized medicine (i.e., implementation of model-informed precision dosing) with trainees through seminar presentations, journal clubs, and scholarship oversight. We also invite local, national, and international experts to present their clinical pharmacology research.

Known for its big-city amenities and smalltown vibe, Cincinnati offers sporting events, performing arts, cultural activities,
outdoor recreation, and so much more.
Our affiliation with the University of Cincinnati provides trainees with additional educational and professional development opportunities.
Cincinnati Children’s celebrates its diverse workforce and community. We hope you will consider starting your translational and clinical pharmacology career with us.
